A popular and tasty fish delicacy from Kerala. It is a simple dish in which fish is fried and then cooked in a medium spicy masala. You can serve it with rice, roti and Indian breads. Here I have used king fish for the preparation, but you can use tuna, salmon for the same. For extra taste you can add roasted coconut bits also in this. Here goes the recipe
Ingredients
- Fish – 250 gram
- Onion – 1
- Ginger – 1 teaspoon
- Garlic – 1 teaspoon
- Green chilly – 2
- Vinegar – 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder – 2 teaspoon
- Chilly powder – 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
- Fennel powder – 1 teaspoon
- Pepper powder – 1/2 teaspoon
To Marinate
- Ginger garlic paste – 2 teaspoon
- Vinegar – 1 teaspoon
- Pepper powder – 1 teaspoon
- Chilly powder – 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
- Rice flour – 1 tablespoon
- Fennel powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt
Preparation
- Mix the ingredients for marination with water and marinate the fish pieces for 20 minutes. Fry both sides of the fish in oil and keep it aside.
- In the same oil saute onion adding little salt , then add ginger, garlic, green chilly and curry leaf.
- When the onion becomes brown, add vinegar and saute. Add coriander, chilly, turmeric, fennel powders and mix it well. Lower the flame and add the fish pieces.
- Sprinkle 1/4 cup water and mix everything without breaking the fish pieces. When the dish becomes dry, toss the pepper powder and turn it off.
