We do have lots of varieties of chutneys. This is one among them and very popular. It is a chutney with dried prawns. You can serve it with rice. I have already shared a dried prawns chutney powder before. But this chutney you can’t store for long, you have to consume it in the same day or the next day itself.
If the prawns are of small variety , you can use it as such, otherwise you have to remove the head and tail. For the sourness, you can use raw mango instead of tamarind. It will be very tasty.
Ingredients
- Dried Prawns – 1/2 cup
- Grated Coconut – 1 cup
- Tamarind – gooseberry size
- Ginger – small piece
- Shallots – 5
- Dry Red chili – 8
Preparation
- Wash and pat dry the dries prawns. Roast the dry red chilies in a pan for some time and then remove. In the same pan, roast the dries prawns for 10 minutes in low flame. Keep aside to cool.
- Add the dry red chilies, shallots, ginger and tamarind into a blender and grind it. Scrape the sides of the jar, add coconut and salt into this. Grind this ย and finally add the dried prawns and a sprig of curry leaves. Grind it well.
- Chutney is ready. Serve it with rice.
