Meat Stir Fry / Irachi Thoran

This is a side dish with shredded meat and it is preparing in the same way how we prepare vegetables for thoran. The meat here I used is beef, but you can use any shredded meat for making this.


  • Cooked and Shredded meat – 500 gram
  • Dry red chilly – 2
  • Shallots – 2
  • Ginger- 1 small piece (chopped)
  • Curry leaves – 1 Sprig
  • Garam masala powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder – 1/4 teaspoon

To grind

  • Grated coconut – 1/4 cup
  • Shallots – 2
  • Green chilly – 1, big
  • Garlic- 1, big
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt


  1. Grind all the ingredients  slightly and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat and splutter the mustard seeds. Add dried red chilly, shallots, ginger and curry leaves and saute till golden brown.
  3. Add the minced meat and saute for a minute. Put the coconut mixture in the middle and cover it with the meat. Cover the pan, lower the heat and cook it for 5 minutes.
  4. Open the pan and mix everything. Add garam masala powder and pepper powder. Mix everything together and saute for a minute  and switch off the heat.
