A simple and vegetarian curry usually served with rice. There are lot of varieties of Rasam. It is a part of the traditional sadya also. Tomato will be main ingredient in most recipes of rasam. But here we are not using tomatoes. This one you can prepare very quickly and easily.
- Tamarind – a lemon size
- Shallots – 2
- Dry red chili – 2
- Ginger – a small piece
- Garlic – 3 flakes
- Green chili – 1
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
- Pepper powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Put tamarind in warm water for 10 minutes and squeeze out the extract and add salt in this. Keep it aside.
Heat oil in pan,splutter mustard, add shallots,dry red chili and curry leaf.
Add ginger,garlic,green chili and saute well. Add tamarind extract water.When it boils add turmeric and pepper powder.
Garnish with coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
