There are lot of varieties of fish curries in Kerala cuisine. This is a curry with fish and mango. The sour taste of raw mango and ground coconut blended together. You can use any kind of fish for this. You can serve it with hot rice, its awesome!!
- Fish – 1/2 kilo, medium pieces
- Grated coconut – 1 cup
- Red chili powder – 2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
- Raw mango – 1
- Shallots – 5
- Ginger – a small piece
- Green chilies – 3
- Fenugreek powder – ½ teaspoon
Grind grated coconut with red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt to a very fine paste by adding a little water. Set aside.
Heat coconut oil in a earthen pot, when it is hot add shallots, green chilies, chopped ginger and curry leaves. Saute well for 2 minutes.
Add fenugreek powder and the ground coconut paste, fry for a minute. Add chopped mango pieces along with little water. Add salt and combine well.
When it starts boiling, add fish pieces and cook covered in low flame until it is well cooked.
Uncover it, drizzle a little coconut oil on top and garnish with few more curry leaves over it and simmer for 5 minutes.
