Momos are a type of dumpling which is native to Tibet, Nepal. The filling of this can be meat or vegetable. It is a steamed food, traditionally the filling is prepared with minced meat. Fried momos are also available, but steamed ones are more healthy.
Chicken (cooked & minced) – 250 gram
All purpose flour – 1 cup
Oil – 1 tablespoon
- Salt – to taste
- Green chilies – 2
- Onion – 2
- Ginger – 1″ piece
- Garlic – 2 flakes
- Soy sauce – 1 teaspoon
Take the flour, oil and salt in a bowl. Adding only the required amount of water, knead it into a soft dough.
Finely chop the green chilies, onions, ginger and garlic. To this, add the chicken, soy sauce, salt and mix it well. This is the filling.
Divide the dough into small balls and roll out each ball into a circle. Now place each circle in the palm of your hand, and place a spoonful of the filling in the center.
Now make pleats in one side and stick it with other side to make a half moon shape.
Place it on the perforated rack of a steamer and steam it for 20 minutes. Serve with tomato-garlic sauce.
